New smoked salmon sides from WildWaters

Shetland Products are delighted to announce that during the Christmas and Hogmanay period their new, WildWaters Smoked Salmon Sides, will be available at selected TESCO stores in Scotland.

These sides are an addition to the successful WildWaters products that are currently listed in TESCO Scotland and are an ideal gourmet product for a celebration dinner, party or just for indulgence.

WildWaters is shortlisted in two categories at the Quality Food Awards 2011

Shetland Products, the marketing arm of Grieg Seafood Hjaltland UK Ltd is delighted that two of their products from the innovative and gourmet WildWaters range have been shortlisted at the prestigious, national and highly contested Quality Food Awards this year.  The two products are WildWaters Smoked Salmon 'Pastrami' (winner of the award in 2009) and WildWaters Gravadlax 'Limoncello'.

The Quality Food Awards are for suppliers of food to the retail sector.

The awards ceremony announcing the final winners is due to take place at the Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, London on 10 November 2011.

Hjaltland Seafarms welcome arrival of two new purpose-built workboats

Hjaltland Seafarms have just taken delivery of two new purpose-built workboats, the Crusader and Curlew. The workboats, designed and built by Bergen Group Skarveland, Norway to Hjaltland Seafarms own specifications, cost £900,000.

The new additions to the fleet Crusader and Curlew will both be stationed in Shetland and will service sites at Setter Ness.

Michael Stark of Hjaltland Seafarms Ltd said: “We welcome the arrival of our two new vessels which will help us streamline and create greater efficiencies in our day to day operations.

“The workboats have been purpose built to our exact specifications. We have been able to stipulate deck layout, crane position, lifting capacity, engine capacity and boat mobility, to ensure that they meet with our current and future requirements.

“The boats will improve working conditions for our employees and, at the same time, help us maintain and develop the exacting farming standards that we have developed over the years.

“This £900,000 investment demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the aquaculture industry and the wider Shetland economy.”

Grieg Seafood Hjaltland is the largest private sector employer in Shetland, supporting between 185 and 200 jobs.

Shetland Products to attend the Royal Highland Show

Shetland Products will be attending the Royal Highland Show at the kind invitation of TESCO to carry out sampling opportunities of their multi award-winning range of WildWaters Smoked Salmon & Gravadlax varieties. They will be on the TESCO stand for three days, from Friday 24th June to Sunday 26th June. Shetland Products began supplying TESCO Lerwick in December 2009 and subsequently stores across the Scottish Mainland in September 2010.

Tesco have worked with Shetland Products and offered premium sampling opportunities, these included their being just one of only two Scottish suppliers featured at the TESCO Town Meeting in Glasgow in May this year, was followed by WildWaters products being offered at the ‘Enjoy the Taste of Scotland Event’ at George Square in Glasgow, later that month.

Attending the Royal Highland Show from Shetland Products will be: Stella Winks, Steven Leask, Yvonne Wegner and Eileen Higgins.
